Chapter 04 · Direction

Working with intentions

Name what you're practicing toward, link your sits to it, and watch it grow from "Just started" to "Long-standing".

An intention is what you're practicing toward: "Meet anger with patience", "Sleep without scrolling", "Twenty minutes, every morning". It gives your sits a direction.

Create one

  1. On Intentions, press New intention.
  2. Give it a title, an optional description and an icon.
  3. Save. It appears under Active intentions and on your Dashboard.

Link a sit from the Timer before you start, from the reflection after, or from the Journal later. A single sit can support several intentions. Each intention counts its sits and lists them, so you can see exactly what moved it.

Stages

Just started
Less than a week old.
Building
Under a month.
Well underway
Under three months.
Long-standing
Three months and beyond.

Progress notes

Open an intention to add dated Comments: short progress notes that become its story over time.

Completing an intention

When it's done, or simply finished with you, choose Mark complete and write an End-of-Intention Reflection. It moves to Retired intentions. Changed your mind? Restore it to active from the Notebook.

Try it

The best way to learn it is to use it.
