Does meditation lower my stress?
Rate your stress each evening on a slider marked −, and Insights reads lower as better when it compares your days.
Stress is the one slider where a higher number is worse, so the sign matters. Marked −, Insights reads a lower Stress score as the better day.
What the research says about meditation and stress, and its limits.
Set it up (two minutes)
- Open Settings → Tags & sliders and find Sliders. New accounts start with Mood, Sleep and Stress there already.
- If Stress isn't there, tap + Stress under the list (or type it and press Add). On the Free plan (3 sliders), pause one you use less first: its history is kept, and you can swap it back later.
- Check its sign is − (higher is harder), so Insights knows which way counts as a better day.
- Each evening, rate the day's stress in the Daily Log. You can also tick the Stressed Day tag, which counts toward hard days.
Where the answer shows up
- Insights → Meditation & your day → Your Daily Log sliders over time
- Stress on days you meditated vs days you didn't, worded as better or worse.
- The day after a session vs the day after a rest day
- Whether stress stays lower the day after a session.
- How your sessions carry into your day
- Whether calm or coherent sessions go with calmer days (from your session feelings and Day tags).
Not sure how much practice is enough? A useful test is a short session on your most stressful days. See why to meditate on the days you least want to.
Insights shows what goes together in your own days, not proof that one causes the other. A busy week can lower both your practice and your mood. Treat a pattern as a good question to keep watching, and see how sure Insights is.
