Does meditation help me sleep?

Rate last night's sleep each evening, and Insights shows whether your sleep follows your sessions.

Sleep is the most common reason people start meditating, and the easiest thing to fool yourself about. A Sleep slider gives you a real answer from your own nights.

What the research says about meditation and sleep, and its limits.

Set it up (two minutes)

  1. Open Settings → Tags & sliders and find Sliders. New accounts start with Mood, Sleep and Stress there already.
  2. If Sleep isn't there, tap + Sleep under the list (or type it and press Add). On the Free plan (3 sliders), pause one you use less first: its history is kept, and you can swap it back later.
  3. Check its sign is + (higher is better), so Insights knows which way counts as a better day.
  4. Each evening, rate last night's sleep in the Daily Log. Keep it the same every time, so the numbers stay comparable.

Where the answer shows up

Insights → Meditation & your day → The day after a session vs the day after a rest day
The clearest view for sleep: how you rated sleep one and two days after a session, next to after a rest day.
Your Daily Log sliders over time
Whether sleep climbs month by month as your practice grows.
Insights → Your practice → When you actually meditate
Whether evening sessions go differently from morning ones.

Want to test an evening practice specifically? Try a short yoga nidra or body scan before bed for a few weeks, choose that practice type for those sessions, and compare.

Insights shows what goes together in your own days, not proof that one causes the other. A busy week can lower both your practice and your mood. Treat a pattern as a good question to keep watching, and see how sure Insights is.
